Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grant Program

Queensland-based manufacturing small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) are now eligible for a cash grant from the Queensland Government for up 75% or $50,000 (excluding GST) of the cost to purchase and install a new variable speed drive (VSD) air compressor.  

The objectives of the MEEG Program (Program Objectives) are to support the Queensland Government’s Energy and Jobs Plan and the department’s strategic direction by:

  • Increasing the uptake of energy efficiency measures and technology by Queensland-based manufacturing SMEs.
  • Supporting Queensland-based manufacturing SMEs to reduce energy usage and costs.
  • Enabling carbon emissions reduction in support of the Queensland Government’s commitment to net-zero by 2050, as well as Queensland’s renewable energy and climate targets.
  • Increasing awareness of energy use by manufacturers. 
     

The key eligibility criteria for Queensland-based manufacturing businesses already in
operation are:

  • An ABN number and GST registration.
    5 to 200 full-time employees. A minimum of 5 full time employees must be located in Queensland.
  • A minimum quote of $10,000 (excluding GST) for implementation of a new VSD compressor project.
  • The project must not have commenced, nor be scheduled to commence, until after the grant funding has been approved and a Grant Agreement has been executed.
  • A minimum co-contribution by the business of at least 25% of the project cost.
  • The project cannot comprise like-for-like replacement of existing equipment.
    The project should be completed within six months of execution of the Grant Agreement.
  • Applicants must have the financial capacity and standing necessary to successfully undertake and complete the proposed Eligible Project, recognising that the grant payments are made in arrears.
